Mikaël Kingsbury - Team Canada - Canadian Olympic Committee
The Canadian’s fairytale final run at Milano Cortina 2026 saw him crowned the first-ever Olympic men’s duals moguls champion on Sunday (15 February). At his final Games, he has clinched a fifth medal and a second career Olympic gold.
Five Olympic races, five Olympic medals, and the perfect ending for the most decorated freestyle skier of all time. Kingsbury’s last medal is the perfect farewell gift too, as Canada’s first gold medal of these Olympic Winter Games.
“I really wanted to break that curse and lift up my team by getting that gold medal.”
The 33-year-old has reached his ultimate peak at his final Olympic dance, from which he departs with more medals than any mogul skier and a century of World Cup victories. Whether he will continue skiing past his season remains to be decided, but Kingsbury has signed off from the Olympic Games in the only way he knows: on the podium.
“I gave everything, I had no regrets. I didn’t feel too nervous. I trusted my plan, I trusted the work that I put in with my team and just went for it. I’m really happy with the outcome… It wasn’t easy today. We had good conditions, but the piste (path) was not easy. But I just trusted my years of experience and the work of my team. I gave it my all, everything I had in my body, to go for this medal.”
